McDonald’s Photoshoot - Creating Real Ambiance in Studio

An interesting case study worth sharing is a brief from McDonald’s I’ve gotten a few months ago. Agency and Client wanted an image showcasing new BBQ burgers in a real garden party setting. Due to technical complexity of foodstyling McDonald’s burgers and hassle of finding suitable locations the only realistic option was to shoot in studio.

Creating a believeable ambiance starts with a real slightly worn out table as surface and real greenery as background. A Profoto D2 with an orange gel was used as main light positioned at the back to shine through the greenery.

Since yellow light is not suitable for burger front side lighting, a very soft white light was positioned top-frontally to mimic the blue sky reflection as seen in nature.
